Sardar Patel was a staunch critic of the British policy of 'divide and rule' by creating internal differences between the two communities.
Maintaining India's unity was his biggest concern. Lord Mountbatten announced his plan on 3 June 1947. In this the principle of partition was accepted. This plan was accepted by the Congress and the Muslim League. Sardar Patel said that he consented to the partition because he believed reliably that '(the rest) should be divided now to keep India united. '
In the book presented on the basis of detailed correspondence of Sardar Patel, under what circumstances and for what reasons, the mood of Indian leaders and the state of mind of society was detailed in the light of evidence. An important book describing the authenticated history of the black chapter of the Partition of India.
